Sandwiches piled high, fresh table side pickles and condiments. Lime Rickeys, seltzer water, etc.
Next month we are heading to NYC and are planning to take in at least two authentic NYC Jewish delis.

Thanks for sharing this history.Velvahttp://www.tomatoesonthevine-velva.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17839197.post-8262419707127467922009-10-07T23:16:24.713-07:002009-10-07T23:16:24.713-07:00Thanks for linking to this post, Sam. Thanks for an entertaining and educational...Faith,

Thanks for an entertaining and educational read. I loved the humor, particularly the subtitle on the chopped liver recipe. I didn't know you could be so funny.

Also, I learned something. My mother always broiled the chicken livers and I never knew why, other than that it was the kosher method. Thank you for explaining. (Not being Eastern-European, she left them whole and served them with spaghetti. Don't ask.)

You can claim to be on the same wavelength as the NY Times today with their piece by Joan Nathan.Dianne Jacobhttp://www.diannej.com/blognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17839197.post-48881044625603297252009-10-07T10:25:25.786-07:002009-10-07T10:25:25.786-07:00Hello, this is a terrific and interesting article....Hello, this is a terrific and interesting article.
